This little hurricane survivor came to us from Steve and Jen Keffeler. Jen’s father, a Marine ‘Top Gun’ fighter pilot, bought it in the early seventies, way before these cars were cool. He rescued it from a life on the drag strip.
Jen grew up with this car, and remembers telling the car that “someday” she would make her beautiful again.

Well, that day has come, hence the name “$umday”- a little play on words. Steve and Jen took on the project after the car was flooded during Hurricane Ivan. Once rescued and brought back to Texas, Steve ordered a custom frame from Corvette Correction that utilizes Corvette C-4 hardware and will house an LS-2 fuel injected engine
to boot. We performed months of priming, fitting and block-sanding prior to applying a custom mixed ‘Dark Pearl Maroondy’ covered with gallons of PPG Vibrance Clear.

Recently, after we finished the body, paint work and polishing, our interior expert extraordinaire, Ron Mangus, flew in over a weekend to install the hard top’s headliner and the now leather-covered dash pad. Steve and Jen, having already installed the chrome and badging, Dyna-matted the interior and installed the wiring harness are ready
to install the engine and fire this little hotty up. At that point, it will go out to Ron Mangus’ shop for an Eric Brockmeyer inspired interior, after which we can finalize the paint job and stance of the car. Don’t fret, the
nose-high attitude is only temporary- kind of like an F-4 fighter jet taking off!
