   
This hot little Chevelle, called ‘Heavy Metal’, is owned by Rice University Computational Mathematics Professor Richard Tapia and his beautiful wife jean. We built this one about 4 ½ years ago from the frame up, except interior, which was done by none other than Ron Mangus in California. And, yes, the underside is as slick as the exterior. There are even matching flames on the engine crossmember and fuel tank. You may have seen it in Super Chevy’s ‘Chevelle’ magazine as the cover/centerfold car, or in Chevy Rumble, or on the cover of Jeg’s catalog, even a Hungarian hot rod magazine that I cannot begin to spell the name of! You may have seen her also on TV as it was a feature car on the popular ‘Powerblock TV’ show hosted by Courtney Hansen. We have shown her for three years now around the country, so, yes, she has been around. This year at the prestigious Detroit Autorama, she took a ‘Best Paint’ award, proof positive that ‘older’ Studio shots by Mike Harrington
