So the wife and I did something this weekend that we haven't done in a lot of years. I can only imagine what smart ass or perverted comments are being brewed right now! Actually, we went to a car show (2010 Dallas Autorama) as spectators. We bought tickets at the front door and walked right in. Who knew!
The trip was spontaneous in nature. We decided to go up and surprise Steve Keffeler, the owner of $umday (our recent '62 Vette project), for his 50th birthday. He didn't know we were coming, and was pleasantly surprised, I believe.
This led to a great dinner at a local Mexican restaurant, Mattito's, and then a few Patron-laced adult libations back at the hotel bar. In addition to laughing continually at Steve, and his brother Bob's, stories of growing up in Rochester, NY, we solved most of the world's problems in short order. Its amazing how common sense can cure the world of its ills. Good times.
We were able to peruse the show at our leisure, and saw some phenomenal cars. It never ceases to amaze me how the 'Vette garners attention amid a sea of show vehicles that were built on a much higher budget and for the sole purpose of showing. The whole package is just right. I think it is appropriate to say that the Sum(day) is greater that the total of its parts.
The other bonus of this spontaneous trip is the fact that we do not have to tear down a car/display, or drive home at 1 or 2 in the morning in order to be at work tomorrow. Have fun Nicole, Steve and Jenn!
Take care all,
Attached are pics of a few cars that "moved" me.
